While it may seem like something related to computers, a router table, or a router table top is basically something entirely different than what a lot of people don’t really know about. For starters, this table top is basically a part of the woodworking arsenal.
The router table itself is basically completely stationary, and needs to work in conjunction with some other attachments like a spindle of woodworking router that is placed vertically on the table top and is protruding from the machine table.
This router has the ability to spin at an incredibly high rates of 3,000 to 24,000 RPM, and while the RPM may not sound as high to some people, believe it or not, it’s enough to cut nearly everything you put in between.
The router head is usually mounted in the chuck of the spindle, whatever piece of wood that needs working on gets fed into the machine and then the cutters are used to mold a profile into that piece of wood.
A common misconception is that router table tops are only good for cutting large pieces of wood; however, the it’s just a misconception as there are different type of router table tops that are built to handle different side of work pieces.
For instance, if you need to cut a larger than usual piece of wood, you can do so with a router table top, however, you will need some hand held support to actually get it done. However, if you need to work on small pieces of wood, they won’t work with the hand held support and will need some sort of accessory to get them ready.
Router table tops are used in variety of wood works and have become a norm over the past couple of years.
